 In the role of embedded software engineer you will help to guide the software development team with expertise and insights in structured software development in a flexible yet robust manner. You are able to work together in a large cross functional team, challenge and coach others in proven techniques for improving the development yet maintaining flexible practices to ensure agility for the business to reach our shared goals.

 Your responsibilities

 To guarantee the high quality towards our customers we pay great importance to reviews of our way of working. A proactive attitude and the willingness to learn from feedback are crucial to participate in discussions regarding software development.

• Development of the test suite used by the project and other projects and the automated tests for the platform.

• Development of automated tests for applications and components for a connectivity platform.

• Integration, test, verification and release of a software platform used in multiple connectivity products and systems.

• Design and implementation of software on component level for the connectivity platform.

• Provide input for effort estimations, maintaining personal schedule and reporting on progress.

• Effective contribution in reviewing deliverables of software components of (peers).

• Adherence with processes (including tools, build process) and contribution in process improvements.

• Effective collaboration with all roles in the development team.

• Keeping abreast of technical developments in own field and proactive knowledge sharing with others

 Philips Lighting is strongly focused on leadership in the business of LED lighting and connected lighting systems. As such the Lighting invests largely in a fast evolving world of state of the art LED luminaires and lamp types increasingly connected in Homes and to City or Building management systems. Products and systems are built for world class light quality, energy management, information management, lighting experience, safety and thus value creation for cities, offices, industry buildings, retail chains, hotels and homes.

 In your role you will be part of the PLS Global Systems R&D centre Eindhoven. Within the centre you will be part of an embedded software development team with about 15 developers and testers. The project principle is the R&D manager of the R&D centre. The project team is located in Eindhoven but offers support to multiple teams located in Eindhoven, Bangalore and Shanghai.

  We are looking for

• BS/MS degree in CS/EE or technical equivalent

• Working and thinking at academic level for complex software systems

• 5 years of experience as a software designer in embedded software development

• Excellent communicational skills and business result oriented.

• Affinity with working in large cross functional teams

• Experience with C/C++ programming.

• Experience in embedded software development, e.g. RTOS, filesystem, drivers, etc.

• Experience in test automation and continuous integration.

• Experience in source code management, e.g., Git, Subversion, etc.

• Experience with wireless technologies such as ZigBee/BLE is an advantage

• Preferably experience in working with agile development techniques, flexible and open attitude, entrepreneurial spirit with a continuous improvement mindset
